While 311 has been great for resident/commercial-maintained winter sidewalk enforcement, the parking enforcement is extremely frustrating. Every. Single. Day. I see vehicles parking blatantly illegally blocking entrances, crosswalks, too close to a corner, or in front of fire hydrants for a few hours during the day, and 9 times out of 10, the 311 complaint is closed with "Vehicle Gone Upon Arrival". And then they (or someone else) are back the next day. And the next, and next...

Literally a carte blanche to park illegally because there is little chance of enforcement. And this extends to parking bans/street sweeping, too. There were a few sections on my bike route that never got done last year because nobody would move their vehicles and the city didn't do anything.

City of Edmonton sidewalks… not sidewalks in the city of Edmonton, City of Edmonton sidewalks.

On Jasper Avenue in the heart of downtown… :(

Not to excuse it but it's likely that pictured segment is to be maintained by the park renewal contractor as per warranty terms.

If I hire a contractor to maintain the sidewalks in front of my house and he doesn't, the city still considers me responsible and will fine me, not the contractor.

It's a city sidewalk that's open to the public, not a construction site. I should be able to complain to them and how they fix it or who does that for them is immaterial.

Closed - No Action Required.

If I get a ticket for not shovelling my walks, I wonder if I could avoid paying it by saying that in my defence they were still within the standards they set as being acceptable.

Sometimes this stuff is so fricken dumb.

Don’t do feedback on basic crap. Just do it right. Holy.

“We want to understand if you prefer a) clear sidewalks, b) pure ice, c) 14in of snow or d) unsure.”

Yes, people want cleared streets as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you need to do a survey to realize or understand that, you are an idiot.
