I hate that such a beautiful park is going to be between 2 parking lots and just have dumpster bins on either side -_-
There's a proposal for the lot to the west (zoning approved in July), which was submitted looking like this:

It's planned as a seniors residence, so, uh, perfect for the cats thing?!?!?!?!?!?!

November 25, 2022: And the grass is greener....

Photos taken two minutes apart - change in sunlight, and angle. The first photo below, which is actually the second one to be taken, is from the north looking south, while the second photo is from the south, just in from Wellington Street, looking north.

That's not consistent w/the final design, as least as I recall it. Hmmm.

Looks like a temporary 'space filler' to me - where are the cats?

That and landscaping are obviously missing, but more notable to me was there isn't even a pathway.

I'm assuming they decided it was too cold to do the additional work before spring, and this would be done to hold the soil in place.

I'm not sure why just wouldn't tarp it..........

..more biodegradable than tarp material?

A path to nowhere? Maybe they put down grass until next spring or until the BIG. building is completed in a few years.

Does anyone actually know for sure that CCXA have the contract to do this? I’m going to ask. At this point it seems like the most solid source is a CBC story from 2018.

Met this furry little guy enjoying the flowers in the Draper Parkette yesterday. He seemed, as I'm sure we all are at UT, a bit curious about the activity at The Well. Hopefully one day he can experience the Wellington Cat Promenade too.

I also spotted this paranoid mouse (rat?) who quickly realized he'd walked into the wrong park and scurried back into the depths of The Well before being spotted by our orange friend.

Is there any updates on this? Will this only get started once KING Toronto North of it is done?

My understanding - an agreement has been reached between the City and the developers of the adjoining site, the planned retirement home at 462 Wellington West, to use the park for construction staging, after which the park will be redeveloped with a financial contribution to the City from the retirement home project (Verve Senior Living) in addition to the already in place land contribution from The Well. Current status of the Verve project is at:

On another note - for Draper Street my understanding is that interlocking brick has at least been proposed for the Draper Street reconstruction, but I do not know one way or the other as to whether it made the final funded plans.
