A reunion 20 years in the making: The Canadian Tire Gas pump at Martin Grove and Albion rd. has been converted back into an Esso Gas station.
I'll give everyone a moment to contain themselves.

On a related note: as of August 9th, the longstanding Canadian Tire on Kipling and Rexdale Blvd. has now closed.

I used to work at this store for a few years about 16 years ago.

Here is a link to the Colliers sales page for this CT store

'Development Potential', in my view, is a nice way of saying "this location would make for a pretty nice condo".
I'll take a condo over another scrap yard or trailer parking lot like this area is so well known for.

I posted this on Page 110 of the Finch West LRT thread, looks like there will be a new affordable community built here

48 acres total land, it's advertising 26 acres as developable, the other 22 acres will be conservation land. Looks pretty big to me, I found these pictures from the PDF flyer when they were selling it. Address is 51 Panorama Court.

51 Panorama being offered for bidding on CBRE. (not sure why it is being offered a second time, perhaps no buyers for the first round)

I suppose it ended up selling, not sure at what point we should make a new thread in the buildings section but there has been an application to demolish 19 buildings on this site, with nothing to replace them yet. Drove by the other day to see crews and machinery clearing the site.

About twenty years ago, I used to live in front of these buildings at 2645 Kipling Ave.; just at the corner of Panorama.

In the four years that I rented a condo at 2645, I experienced a lot of interesting events. One of which involved contractors who were tasked with replacing all
of our old coloured balconies with the modern see-through ones. During renovations, our balconies were sealed off as the switch began. Then, after what
seemed like a week, work had suddenly been brought to an abrupt halt.

We would later find out that the property manager had refused to pay the rest of the money owed to the contractors, so the workers packed up their tools and left
the balconies as-is in their unfinished states. Truth be told, it took some time for another company to step in and finish the job, yet not long after that, rumours
began circulating that the property manager had fled the country, taking several millions of dollars of the building's budget with him.

Back then, the teens in the area used to head down to the trails that started near 51 Panorama. Follow the trail long enough and it would cross the train tracks
along Steeles into a closed-off park where hobbyists would fly model airplanes. With the Albion Mall also within walking distance, many students would often take
their lunch breaks at Albion's food court, Back then, the stores and 22 Division Police station situated along Finch and Kipling didn't exist yet. In their place was an
open field with a scant, uneventful collection of rocks, shrubs and a lone tree here or there. Decades before the Finch LRT was even common knowledge, the field
along Finch served as a shortcut between Stevenson rd. and the Albion mall.

Just did a driveby yesterday, the entire site is cleared, they did not keep the historical main building, also looks like they cleared most of the trees on site as well.

What are you referring to? There's a historic building in that suburban blob allegedly?? 🤣

I think they're referring to the old SickKids Thistletown Hospital, the central building was built in the 1920s in the "Modern Classical" style

It saddens me to write here that we lost a Rexdale legend recently. Eugenio Arcilesi was a regular contributor; providing plenty of
store inventory signs, magazine clippings and vintage photos for these forums.

While Eugenio was most-active in the facebook Vintage Rexdale group, he'd often ask me to submit content here on his behalf.

Rest in peace, Eugenio. Thank you for all the memories. Rexdale won't be the same without you.
