Toronto's favourite pastime: lining up for something that shouldn't require lining up!
True, but what's the alternative, just ditch the bike anywhere? I've seen that in Asia and Europe, and its a sidewalk-obstructing mess. Maybe we should get more docks, or have staff available to clear them faster.

Well, I lasted two weeks, lol. I told the boss I cannot do the 45-60 min each way to the office only to sit at a desk working solo. It should not take an hour to drive 19 km, but my drive will only get worse in the winter. I don't know how I did this commuting by car these past 28 years years, but I'm done. New terms are WFH exclusively unless I'm on the road to visit clients, chargeable at $0.72 per km, plus meals and any tolls, parking fees/tickets (not speeding) I accumulate.
Good for you! The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I imagine taking transit for that route would be even more frustrating.

In my career, except for my three years in Fredericton, and a three year stint at Yonge and Lawrence where I could easily take the subway (or walk home during the 2003 Black Out), all my jobs have required extensive commutes from my house in downtown east. That’s included desk jobs in Kitchener, Markham, Port Credit and Vaughan. I just can’t do it anymore, and WFH since Covid demonstrated to both myself and my employer that it’s just not necessary.

I’ll be 55 in 1Q26 and plan to retire at 58. Both my parents died in their late 60s from addictions (nicotine and alcohol/drugs), and while I have no chemical vices, I can’t assume I have three plus decades left. So, out at 58. I’ll then look for something part time that’s walkable from my house. Maybe a barker on one of those open top city tour buses….”and on your left you’ll see a gaggle of junkies fighting over an imagined Twinkie….

I've been going in a lot more lately, exceeding the minimum days my employer requires. I am finding it nice to be in the office with people, but I definitely get much less done in office than I do at home. The commute partially factors into it, since I find myself working more hours at home without the worry of a commute vs. leaving the office at a set time to get home at a reasonable time.

That said, I think my sweet spot is hybrid, and showing up at noon while working from home in the morning has been best for me. This whole 5 days in office with zero flexibility thing that many companies are switching to is BS.

You and a majority of employees feel and know that their productivity is higher when they dont have to waste their time commuting to the office.

All the corporate management talk of "more productivity" with people in office more is pure BS, nothing more, nothing less. Anyone with a pea for a brain knows that, it's the people who want to grasp onto control who want to make it seem like working from home is oh so unproductive.
