He's doing all the things that I originally voted for Trudeau to do in 2015. There will be quibbles. But I think he's hit the be right balance.
Never happened before. This would be a first.Well that would be interesting. Has any government gained a majority from people crossing the floor?
Carney’s the guy that many Conservatives wish they had as a leader. Cutting civil service, taxes, foreign students and TFWs, boosting the military and infrastructure, etc.. what’s a Con not to like? There is ongoing speculation that 2 or 3 more Conservative MPs may also cross the floor, but this is just speculation as of right now.
Basically. And he could have been if it was 10, 20, 30 years ago. But not now. Not in a world where Conservatives now are Maple MAGA.Carney’s the guy that many Conservatives wish they had as a leader.
If Elizabeth may can be counted on to support the government, that makes the gap even smaller.
Nova Scotia MP Chris D'Entremont has crossed the floor from the Conservatives to the Liberals, giving the Liberals 170 seats. This is the first floor crossing since 2018 and means Prime Minister Carney's government is just 2 seats away from a majority government. There is ongoing speculation that 2 or 3 more Conservative MPs may also cross the floor, but this is just speculation as of right now.

I think it would be rather devastating for PP if he lost a few members, specifically because of his recent Trumpian antics, so that the Liberals had a narrow majority and could govern for a full term. That might be enough for the knives to come out for his leadership review.
At $148 million, Carney has presented to largest non-Covid deficit in Canadian history. I wonder if we’ll ever again see a balanced Liberal budget like the Chrétien-Martin years? Trudeau’s first finance minister Morneau said he’d balance the books by 2019.

Where do you get the $148B figure? From what I gather, the deficit is planned to be $78B.At $148 billion, Carney has presented to largest non-Covid deficit in Canadian history. They never got close.
