Here is the cover of the 2025 Budget. Definitely a nice cover this year:

Nova Scotia MP Chris D'Entremont has crossed the floor from the Conservatives to the Liberals, giving the Liberals 170 seats. This is the first floor crossing since 2021 and means Prime Minister Carney's government is just 2 seats away from a majority government. There is ongoing speculation that 2 or 3 more Conservative MPs may also cross the floor, but this is just speculation as of right now.

Carney’s the guy that many Conservatives wish they had as a leader. Cutting civil service, taxes, foreign students and TFWs, boosting the military and infrastructure, etc.. what’s a Con not to like?

If Elizabeth may can be counted on to support the government, that makes the gap even smaller.

I think it would be rather devastating for PP if he lost a few members, specifically because of his recent Trumpian antics, so that the Liberals had a narrow majority and could govern for a full term. That might be enough for the knives to come out for his leadership review.

I don't see enough people crossing the floor to make that happen

At $148 billion, Carney has presented to largest non-Covid deficit in Canadian history. I wonder if we’ll ever again see a balanced Liberal budget like the Chrétien-Martin years? Trudeau’s first finance minister Morneau said in 2015 that the Liberals would balance the books by 2019. They never got close.

I doubt it at least not until the Feds tell the provinces and cities that they are on their own.

We can balance the books when Ontario, Alberta and everyone else demands Ottawa pays for everything.

Elizabeth May said she will not support the budget unless there is amendments

Where do you get the $148B figure? From what I gather, the deficit is planned to be $78B.
