Pedal Poll is happening two weeks from now, June 2nd - 7th.
The basic idea is you sign up to count bicycle and micromobility traffic at certain spots throughout the city, collecting data to support future active transport infrastructure. Each shift is 2 hours, and you can adjust your time if the weather is bad. Just bring a lawn chair, snacks, and a phone to access the counting app!
I did this last year, and it was interesting to actually see with your own eyes how many people are using the bike paths. The categories were strange last year though, e-scooters and cars were in the same category which made no sense.
Thankfully they have made improvements this year, there are now separate categories for e-bikes/scooters, shared (Lime) scooters/bikes, cargo bikes etc, and car traffic is not being counted anymore. The app has also been redesigned and is now web-based, it seems easier to use.
If you can spare a couple hours, sign up for a shift here and help support future infrastructure!
