It's under construction right now. The CIBC Square thread has some good pictures of the skybridges that will be part of the PATH.
It is a bit unclear exactly how one will get from the new (Yonge) Skybridge that ends at Backstage to The Esplanade but I assume it will be stairs to the Yonge/Esplanade corner. One day, 'they' have plans for a connection through BackStage to the adjacent Green P parking building and through it to Church Street & Market Street but ......

Thanks both! Yeah that was my follow up question - I can’t imagine they would extend the PATH for the private use of only those condo residents, but I also wouldn’t think they would just open up the building lobby to general public.

These two plans were posted on UT last year..

Yes, I am also puzzled by these plans as I had no idea the Backstage had 2nd floor retail or see why anyone would actually want to operate retail there - there would be no passing traffic except (small number of) people using the PATH passageway. I can say that the larger area on west side of 2nd floor has been discussed as some sort of 'art gallery' but no idea who might operate it or why people would go there either.

Yeah, that’s weird. As far as I can tell the only retail at all in that building (at ground level) is a boutique car rental and maybe a dry cleaner? Not sure if it’s still there.

There is (or was??) a Gateway convenience store on the (ground floor) corner of The Esplanade and Yonge. It is clearly not a good retail location and something on 2nd floor would be much worse.

Oh yeah I think you’re right - the dry cleaner is in 25 Esplanade.

As someone who owns in Backstage, I can tell you that Gateway on the street level is not busy. I was hoping there would be a direct indoor secure connection from Backstage but it appears we will need to go outside and back in a few steps. Any thoughts on condo values in this building with direct PATH connection?

Certainly can’t hurt! Condo values are weird right now anyways, will take a few years to normalize.

If they make it very seamless.... maybe it would work? It'd be better if it continues to connect somewhere tho.

The connection via Green P is certainly not planned for action right now but, obviously, if/when it goes further east the connection needs to be better and, I hope, no need for stairs. AODA and all that

Not sure where to post this but I'm guessing it's PATH related, so posting it here. Anyone know what's happening on the Royal York sidewalk across from the PATH entrance on York? I swear this hoarding has been up for yeaaaaars. No movement on the surface so assuming something is happening underground?
