As much as I don't like to censor and all that, there was a complaint about swearing from a certain forum member.

Prometheus, I'll have to ask you to self-edit your original post.

I thought it was the moderator's job to enforce the rules of the forum? It sounds to me like you only did this because I reported the post, and not because you wanted to.

I've had posts deleted and edited and messages sent to me because of language used in them, and I have since changed my tune and no longer use any derogatory language in my posts. Whenever I see swearing now, I report it, although most reports lead to nothing, this is the first time I've seen a mod actually take action on it. I wasn't asked to edit my post.

you reported me? because others did it to you, you feel you have to do it to others? that's not very nice.

Don't take it personal. It has nothing to do with you. It wasn't others that reported me, it was mods that chose to moderate my posts. So now when I see others can swear and get away with it, I make sure to report it.
Believe me, I could care less about swearing. It doesn't bother me in the least!

did you maybe swear at somebody?

"don't take it personal", ya, that usually what you hear from hostage takers. ;)

please don't use me as a tool to spite someone else. i wouldn't do it to you.

i admire your honesty though because you admitted it. we're cool. :)

I've haven't followed this thread (I am glad though it got separated from the more serious strange routes thread), so it took a report for me to be aware of it. I asked for a edit, because of a complaint, got the edit, and that's that.

I prefer not to directly censor or edit others' posts, I rather give a warning or requests instead unless it is a very serious matter.

Though I actually can't remember any serious swearing in the original post I suppose it does make sense to have removed it BUT I fail to see ANY reason to 'clean up' the picture. Will the next thing be that "point towers" will all be modestly hidden behind parental guidance warnings and photographs of cigars, bananas or Canada's national animal banned completely? :->

Being a Mod is clearly not all fun but really ....

PS One must also wonder how any member (oh dear, is that word banned now?) has the time or the energy (or the inclination) to report potentially offensive posts - apparently on a regular basis.
