Wonder if MacEwan launches an MBA program once this building opens. U of A better start checking their campus couch cushions to find the funding for their new School of Business building, because at this rate MacEwan is going to be eating the U of A's lunch as far as business programs go.

Hmmm, that's an interesting idea and one that makes a lot of sense longer-term.

I do suspect that the UofA is next up for a new SOB/expansion and am curious to see how this progesses.

^^ yes it is in their plans (MBA MacEwan U) and it may be somewhat instrumental in bringing more offices to downtown E -- not likely in the conventional sense of towers but more in the realm of mixed use.
^ U of A has practically declared a halt on campus expansion (at least for the near term) while it sorts out its beans. For downtown I would like to see them put a major emphasis on Extension Certificate programs, many of which could be in the business realm -- I am trying to convince them to create a joint venture program on extension courses with UCLA and Disney Imagineering that would offer courses in the Arts (from a business perspective focused on film and television). It would be a telepresence model that employs holograms for teaching, inviting instruction from across the globe. On the other side, in reciprocity, UCLA and Disney would focus on AI in which U of A now has a large presence and could share insights via certificate extension courses. U of A is trying to pump up its international bona fides and this is one path that could really help.

Yeah, so we don't have any change between the couch cushions and haven't for some time. And if we did, I don't see why a new business school building would be the first priority. I don't think U of A should be trying to compete with MacEwan here. As MacEwan expands with time, U of A and MacEwan will eventually grow to have different strengths, and that's fine.

Quite the contrast between MacEwan's new business building downtown and the U of A's still fairly empty Enterprise Square. Well it is not surprising, the U of A isn't really known about caring much about its impact on the community.

I wouldn't be surprised if the U of A vacated Enterprise Square and moved to their main campus or their south campus. Alberta Precision Labs can then take over the entirety of the space if nobody else wants it.
