I'm not kidding @AlbertC , I have not been able to find breaded (battered, actually) shrimp as godly as theirs ever since... 😭

Unfortunately, I missed out on it. But the feeling definitely sucks when bygone flavours and experiences can no longer be matched. 😢

A couple resources on the Lichee Garden that I found:

I have very fuzzy memories of the original location, but the one in the Atrium I remember well and very fondly. Frequently on weekends it became almost a routine for my parents to take me and my brother downtown to go eat Chinese food, which always meant Lichee Garden 😄 It had a vibe that no restaurant seems to have any more. It even had a small stage with a grand piano, and every time we'd go, for many years, this old white man in a tuxedo would play all kinds of light jazz pieces and other old pop standards. I wonder what became of that guy when the restaurant moved...

Even today when I walk through the basement of the Atrium (which is often as I work nearby), I look at that food court in disgust and shake my head knowing what a cool place used to be there...

381-383 King St W, the current location of Escape Manor and a nail salon, is listed for sale at $27 million

Fabulous opportunity for investors and builders to acquire one of the last building lots at King St. West. Three owners to the west have expressed interest to sell which results in approx. 120' of frontage on King St . West to build a new apartment building. The monthly revenue of this property is $44,287.22. The annual revenue is $531,446.64 (40559022)
