Not retail, per se, though this story is in the retail trades.........The Weston Foundation is handing out grants to innovate Canadian agricultural berry production with an eye to greenhouses/vertical farms.
The intent is give Canada year-round or extended season, domestically produced berry crops.

Growers from BC, (1), Ontario (2) and Quebec (1) have advanced out of an initial round of 11, they are each getting 5M (so 20M total) at this stage to further advance their ideas.
Between them they are looking at Blackberry (1), Blueberry (1), Raspberry (2), and Strawberry (2).
