The monorail got bad rap when the Toronto Zoo closed down its "monorail" and the Simpsons episode "Marge vs. the Monorail" aired, though the former closed one-and-a-half years after the original airing of the latter.

Plus the zoo train (which I liked, in my limited experience with it) wasn't a real monorail.

Only Toronto would base it's mass transit criteria on an example of a zoo and an episode of The Simpsons.
Mumbai just opened it's first segment with the entire line {23km} to be completed in 2 years. Chennai has just announced the successful tender of it first 20km line to be complete in 3 years and of course Sao Paulo will open the first of it's massive system this year.
From what I've read on different sites, the Bombardier system is often considered the best out there better than Scomi or Hitachi.
