So, I was thinking that if the GO 2.0 plan opens up the Midtown line, you could in theory run trains from the Lakeshore West line up to Kipling to join the Midtown line there, right? That way, people on the Lakeshore West line don't have switch at Union to Line 1 to get up to Line 2. I was wondering if the construction underway at Long Branch would allow for that, or if an additional platform would be needed. (I recognize that a lot of other work would have to happen at Kipling and with regards to a freight bypass before this could come to pass). I'm just curious if the work already underway at Long Branch would allow for such a service.

I am almost certain to accommodate LW local + express trains and midtown line traffic, Long Branch GO and the bridge over the Etobicoke Creek would need to be expanded

I don't know that it was confirmed anywhere, but the Grimsby GO announcement is still envisioned for the Casablanca site? No change of heart for setting up shop at the current VIA station?

As I implied this afternoon on a different thread, the government might not want to be trumpeting that they dropped $13.5 billion on GTA Transit the day before the election. It puts a pretty big target on their back, both in terms of the astronomical number (for something that most people don't understand, and probably think we already have) and that when the Liberals left office, most of this should have been finished about now - and they still haven't got shovels in the ground for any of this ONExpress construction.

The public consortium members are required however to keep the shareholders apprised of major developments quickly. Nothing from Alstom yet though - perhaps their value isn't significant enough to announce; or there's a hiccup still. DB is government-owned so they don't need to disclose it.

It's probably too late now. Even if they technically could, the opposition would attack them for using government resources for "campaigning".

If both General Canada and I quickly figured it out, I'm sure the media and opposition will too. I'm not sure why they wouldn't have simply owned it, rather than dumping it on a Take Out the Trash day.

Nothing precludes a written announcement though, with campaign appearances on public property.

I'd guess that negotiations have been lengthy, and with the writ dropping it put pressure on the consortium to sign off on something in case the new government had very different ideas. With increased urgency as the new polls have been coming out in the last week.

That number makes sense when you look at the DB service operations contract and the civil works contract separately.
Remember how DB was supposed to take over on Jan 1? That was completely separate from the civil works

30 years of operations and maintenance adds up.

note that lots of on-corr work is now outside of On-corr. like the grading near danforth. the retaining walls have been done for awhile. its pretty much tracks and electrification
