@Palma, it has already been established below the post that you quoted that the site is now a Toronto Catholic District School Board site. Please don't add confusion to the thread where none should exist.

I don't know if this is the right thread for this or if it has already been reported but there is a sign up at the northeast corner of Shuter and Parliament announcing a new Catholic school.

While there is little on the TCDSB's website so far, apparently a new school could be open here as soon as the 2020-2021 school year. The site, as of yesterday:

This new school won’t start construction within the next 5 years as currently there are plans to make the 3.5 acre into a garden for Regent Park residents.

Actual plans or just 'hopes" It seems to have become an (unlicenced?) parking lot.

Doug Ford would rather sell school land to his developer friends for empty asset condominiums than put it to productive use for the citizens who voted for him.

Something not mentioned so far is that this site occupies a quarter of an early Catholic burial ground of the now St Paul's Basilica.
According to this 2017 article it was "discovered" around year 2000, but it has been marked on maps as early as 1834, shown in green in the upper right.
I wonder if there are graves to be found in the other three developed quadrants of the grounds, bounded by Parliament, Sackville, Dundas and Shuter

To my understanding, there are graves under the St. Paul's school yard. Including burials during a cholera epidemic.

It came up eons ago when the City was prepared to help fund 'greening' that paved-over school yard.

There was a realization that were serious issues of all sorts (epidemiological, but also the need to re-inter remains)...... the project would have been vastly more time-consuming, complex and costly than the funds allowed.

The school itself needs to be replaced. I believe this site (Regent) was contemplated as a merger of the current St. Pauls and the Catholic School in the St. Lawrence area.

Not sure what's under the existing school building either.

Side note, there are also graves under the paved over areas around Metropolitan United on Queen.
