1) Our speed limits are supposedly derived from the 85th percentile rule (the speed at which 85% of drivers, err, drive) If the police are interested in cracking down on speeding - at least make sure that what they define as speeding isn't just arbitrarily different than what the majority of drivers consider speeding. Laws are not decrees from the police force.
If this were true the speed limit would be at least 120. Our speed limits are unreasonably low on freeways and undivided highways. They should be raised to the design speeds of the roads (120-130 on freeways, usually 100 on undivided highways, and 90-100 on county roads), and bring back photo radar to actually enforce the limits.

I've heard all kinds of crazy stories about the German autobahn, and while I've never driven on them, I have driven on Czech freeways. The limit is 130 and you get a huge variation in speed between the trucks doing 90 or so, the average driver doing 120-130, and the 10% or more who go 150+. It takes some getting used to!

And summary executions for anyone caught over 50, I imagine.
Why stop there? We need manditory minimum sentences for jaywalking! Chopping off hands for theft! Jail time for pot smokers!

Oh wait, we already have one of those...
