Desperately need to get the lot south developed and the joeys lot developed as well.

I believe Allard owns that parking lot on the SE corner of 101 St/104 Ave - and we know how much Allard loves their parking lots!

Sometimes I imagine what it would look like if we had towers on that lot, the lot across (directly across from Edmonton tower and Joey's) and the "trophy tower" site owned by Katz. Now that would give off some seriously big city vibes and give a huge shot in the arm for downtown.

How about a mixed-use tower with an Alt Hotel and an IMAX movie theatre?

I think the second tower on Stationlands would be great in creating the visual density we want to see.
As for Katz's land, I'm actually ok right now with the paved program space he has, but I'd love to see the block to the north (where the Boyle street was) developed. The fact that Japanese Village is now in the strip along the main road is a hopeful sign that this block could start attracting more attention.

Didn't the IMAX previously fall through in Ice District? I'm not sure if already having the nearby movie theatres in City Centre impacted that.

With all the people that have already mentioned Alt here over the years, I am convinced that either that hotel business is not aware of Edmonton or this forum, but perhaps it will happen some day.

From a distance, I don't find the design to be anything too spectacular, but the quality of the materials does come off quite nicely at a closer distance.

They are definitely aware of Edmonton. In fact, an Alt+ hotel was supposed to go into the abandoned Mackenzie Tower project a mere five years ago. Sadly they haven't returned to try another option. Lost in the haze of the pandemic I suppose.

Is that really all gun metal grey on the wide portion of the building on the left, or is that a trick of lighting at the time of day the picture was taken?

Something that was proposed but didn't happen five years ago doesn't say to me that we are high on their radar. Its kind of like the person you were interested in who has ghosted you.

Inexperienced developer, partners with out of town group with high expectations given this is Edmonton's 'premier' urban street and their recent success' in MTL/Tor; they launch and fall flat with almost no interest in what was one of the most top notch overall projects to date.

Bad timing, non-existent condo market, higher price point.

It probably didn't help that sticking a major hotel on the 4th St Promenade would have required underground parking and a dedicated entry/exit for guest check-ins, taxis, etc.

I would much rather see an ALT Hotel on the BMO site (assuming Regency quits farting around) or in the Allard parking lot across from Stationlands (and thus bringing this discussion back on topic ).
