What should have immediately come from Council's decision on his project was the City working with local Indigenous bands/groups to create a voluntary framework for conducting meaningful consultation. Let's give respect to our Indigenous brothers and sisters while also reducing the vagueness and shifting goalposts.

There was considerable consultation with various groups and even representation on the advisory group.
Indeed, Hence: if it was felt it was not enough to grant conditional leases to proceed with further exploration and formal consultation, help our business community understand what does need to be done vs letting projects die on the vine from requirements that feel more like scapegoatism (seemed like Council wanted any reason to kill it) rather than reconciliation.

The Council meeting got derailed, with FAR more weight being given to 1-2 people who were not involved and did not have a full understanding of what had been done to date. As such, the tide pulled the other way and that was that.

Michael Janz pushed hard against the gondola because he wanted to protect his union buddies who are with the ETS.

The irony is that there will be greater transit use. People won't have to park at Old Strathcona.

I heard that the more times that someone taking public transit has to connect on another service, the attractiveness and utilization of said service is reduced.

So for people where the gondola is their one and only trip, less impact. If you have to take a train or bus to get to gondola, then more impact on utilization.

Is there going to be BRT from Old Strathcona to downtown still?

Is there an actual update, or are people just zombie-bumping the thread?

The lack of a good transit connection between Downtown and Whyte is such a problem that could have been solved by now.

It's called the 8, and is literally the highest ridership route ETS operates.

There's the proposed B1 route, but when it actually starts running is anyone's guess.

Any reason why this wasn't an option? Whyte, end of steel park, queen elizabeth hill or park, rossdale plant, up rossdale road to 100 st and maybe even to churchill square just seems like such a great route.
Stations jack up costs a ton I would imagine. 3 stations covers the bases enough. Walking to kinsmen or Churchill from the proposed stations isn’t bad.
