Now that the Ortona is completed, I'm wondering what will happen with the rest of this block?

The Ortona could be extended, but maybe there could be some mid-rise infill development with some retail in the podium (featuring a badly needed grocery store), and can include an underground version of that parking lot.

A drive thru Tims/A&W/McDs would probably do exceptionally well in this location that Gronk shared above (not the actual Ortona Armoury itself), and would also provide a much needed community amenity. Not everything has to be an expensive artisanal coffee shop... sometimes you just want a quick and dirty $5 burger/sandwich

I often have the same thoughts, but I fear being stoned to death and banned from the forum 🤣

I mean, is the opinion controversial if it's true in this case? 😂

Also yeah this would definitely add to Rossdale's historic character.

I gave your notion a long serious thought, and decided that having the Ortona share their space with a Timmy Ho's or a Rotten Ronnies is not a good idea. The lineup of idling vehicles at a drive-thru, a surface parking lot, and having to endure a parade of riff-raff doesn't really fit with an arts hub.

A mid-rise with a podium that includes an artisanal coffee shop such as Square 1 or The Colombian along with a mom & pop grocery store would be better suited for the Ortana.
