Can anyone explain why OEG is hosting a "tailgate" party in a giant tent on the future site of the event park instead of in the plaza? Wasn't that the entire purpose of the plaza? I love that they've activated that fan park and brought in different concerts, etc., but the plaza should be a happening place on EVERY game/event night. Bring in food vendors, entertainment, sell drinks—create an atmosphere that makes people want to get downtown early. It might even encourage other people to lease the remaining empty CRUs in ID and the surrounding areas.

Golden Knights signed star forward Jack Eichel to an eight-year, $108 million extension with a $13.5 million AAV. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2025-26 season.

It looks like McDavid's "home town discount" is rapidly solidifying as being as substantial - or moreso - than first thought. On the other hand, he'll be coming back to the market for his next contract when these have another six years to run and the cap will haved moved up quite a bit. I hope it works out as well for McDavid moving up to the salary level he's earned and deserves on his next contract (hopefully with the Oilers!).

The offense is beginning to have a lot of options and is building some interesting depth with the signing of Jack Roslovic. Mention was made of the cap room afforded by McDavid's extension at the same salary level as a means to pick up this signing. I hope the guy has an opportunity to prove himself in Edmonton and that he makes the most of the opportunity.
