Rumours are a cafe/wine bar and then a full service brand restaurant on the NWC.

But I guess we will wait and see what actually arrives.

Either way, it is so nice to see this building returning to prominence.
I hope so. The lack of main-level street-facing restaurants in this area is a problem for activation and people loitering. I hope more restaurants open and whoever takes over the mall activates the main level outward more. Tough proposition when the inside isn't doing great either, I guess.

It's an absolutely lovely space so that wouldn't be surprising. New clothing retail would be great, I'm curious if it's a large retailer or a boutique one.

My personal hope is that whoever purchases City Centre Mall goes "oh hey that worked for Manulife" and does something similar with their space to match the quality.

Boutique would be great, but I hope it's a larger retailer willing to take a chance on DT again that will hopefully lead to more.

NATIONAL BANK CENTRE

(I know, it's going to be hard to start calling it something other than Manulife, considering that's been it's name for 43 years.) It does sound more 'big city' to me as well, for whatever reason.

They still have "Manulife Place" branding inside the building in various places and on the parkade doors, etc, so this is gonna be a tough one to transition to until they take care of all that.
