The big rec centers (Let alone the nice smaller ones). Meadows, Terwillegar, even Clareview are very nice. Do other cities fund their rec centers like this, if not, what opposes them? This is going to be another beautiful project when completed. At least the City is leading the way with fine architecture for libraries and community centres; that fact should at some point start to embarrass some Edmonton developers.
I think most do if you look at places like Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Fort Sask, and others have invested in facilities like this because of their importance to communities they serve. Rec centers really serve as some of the best community gathering places that municipalities offer. The big rec centers (Let alone the nice smaller ones). Sherwood Park is getting another field house facility starting later this year. St Albert has preliminary plans for a new rec centre pool facility in the NW. I have seen some new ones across Canada but not to the extent that we see in the metro region.I think most do if you look at places like Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Fort Sask, and others have invested in facilities like this because of their importance to communities they serve.
