Don't think this sitting empty in the evenings is going over too well. Multiple windows near smashed.

Kinda like this approach and idea as it will be more akin to a limited time event which should draw folks, but again, how does this work for most of the M-F hours to make $?

The new approach sounds ok, but it's the location that will forever doom this project as is.

Airlift the whole thing and drop it on the old BMO site, or even better, onto the Jasper av BPs and it would work much much better.

Also, lose the goth look and give it some color.

It's stacked up sea cans, stop being so serious and have some fun with it!

I was attacked from sharing that opinion from day one and feel vindicated. There's no way to slice it, Gateway is a massive auto corridor and there's nothing pedestrian friendly about the slice of land crammed between it and the rail line.

There is the slightest chance the location could work if the rail line was closed and pedestrians could access the area from the other side, allowing Gateway to be effectively walled off.

It was always an odd choice for development, and I suspect that the rail lline may end up forcing its removal if the old ROW is used for HSR.

Everyone involved in the planning and approval of that project where it is should feel bad, and if they had any honor, would commit ritual sudoku.

Despite the lagging success, I still like this development and think that continuing to tweak things it'll eventually find it's footing.

One swing and a miss was the adjacent sidewalk. Currently it feels so cold and sanitized. Wish they had replicated the west side with the benches, trees, bike racks, pavers, garbage cans, etc. that all contribute to a better urban realm + provides a barrier b/t the sidewalk and roadway.

edit: no i don't work the CoE's transportation planning dept but it seems i may have drank their kool aid

The wider sidewalk and trees are nice but I still find the bench placement odd, close to the busy road and facing the other way. Station Park has its challenges and I don't see a pick up soon.

Perhaps eventually some well known restaurant chain or franchise not already around the area will take over the space which can draw more people in.

SABOR EMPIRE!
