I'm 100% certain that Janz will vote against it, being the anti-business, unionist, hardcore socialist NDP supporter that he is.

If anyone on City Council votes against it, there is the municipal election in a few months if you want to send them a message.

Say what you want about Janz, but it's baffling to hear opposition to this CRL extension described as socialist. If anything, a good pro-competition neoliberal should be less favorable towards the government picking winners and losers, not more.

A residential is lilkely back on the table...as per Danni - they have to build 3 towers by 2029 to meet their commitments to housing - the Connect centre is likely 1 of the 3 towers.

But unlike the previous city building grant that was open to all developers, this one doesn't appear to be. Or is it?

This seems to be the sort of politically posturing, which Janz in particular does more than necessary in my opinion and I find to be a turn off.

I suspect he is also doing it hoping it will help him in the upcoming election. I would prefer someone more pragmatic and reasonable on council.

Ol' Smitty is licking her chops right now, salivating at dividing the city and hoping that if this gets voted down - she's off the hook for the Province's portion.

That's the intent. 2500 units of mixed-use residential.
Vague on timing though. The Village Infrastructure sounds like it would be built out through 2035+ as per attachment 4, so definitely a long term thing. Wonder what, if anything, is guaranteed on the residential side. Looks like $85M for the event centre and $42M for Village Infrastructure from the City side, so $127M from the City, plus the provincial contribution of $16M for village infrastructure, $37.5M for old barn demo, and $52M for event park. $233M public contribution give or take?

The first 354 units would be completed in around late 2028, and the last building would be finished in around 2038.
