One of the big problems with our approach to economic development is that the city continues to focus mainly on attracting things that are often built outside the city and not on attracting development to the core.

If this approach continues we risk becoming even more of a donut city with even more of a hollowed out core.

How about BILD helps developers retool for a new era of infill and higher density building instead of greenfield sprawl…
 
I quite agree with this and do hope it becomes a central focus in the future. Attracting multiple companies in the 500+ employees category to our downtown would really start to make a difference.
Yes, places with more vibrant downtowns generally also have more people working there. My sense is that the number of people working downtown here has been fairly stagnant for decades.

So this seems to be one big missing part of the current strategies.
