Was chatting with a couple senior staff members at Boyle this week. Sounds like internal plans are to be moved in and opening in September, but there was some skepticism that they will achieve that.
Where did you hear that? I just noticed yesterday that the Village @ Ice District map marks this property as a "non-participating landowner." Is Katz just developing it separately (but hopefully still soon)? It’s coming!
It is Appendix II of the Central McDougall Urban Village Special Area, which was used in the March 5 Exec Committee package to define the Village at Ice District boundaries (see page 38). Katz owns it for sure; the brouhaha with Boyle Street removed any doubt about that; I just hope that they won't phase development of this plot to occur after the Village at Ice District is all built out.Might just be an old map? Feel like that one has been floating around for a few years. Katz definitely owns that site.
This one is from a CBC article in March 2025 and appears to list it as part of a future development site, albeit not part of Village @ ICE.

The lot that is fenced in - the "old Boyle Street Building," - didn't Katz have it smashed down on his dime and relocated to the King T center?Where did you hear that? Yes, but there was also a year-long legal battle in the meantime. Point being, it's clear Katz owns that land now lol; I just wonder about timelines. The lot that is fenced in - the "old Boyle Street Building," - didn't Katz have it smashed down on his dime and relocated to the King T center?
10-4 - I think we're all hankering to get a time line, scope and some drawings presented one of these days....can't be too far behind?Yes, but there was also a year-long legal battle in the meantime. Point being, it's clear Katz owns that land now lol; I just wonder about timelines.
