The Battalion Square has a new "For Lease" sign by Colliers.

It looks like Beljan is still proceeding with a "specialty" grocery store concept, with a mix of other tenants that complement the grocery store anchor. Not clear what constitutes as a "specialty" grocer, but L'OCA, the Italian Centre Shop, Freson Bros or CityMarket come to mind.

There's a brochure posted on Colliers:

Located in North Edmonton's fastest-growing residential community, Battalion Square is set to become a vibrant retail hub in the heart of Village at Griesbach—a 13-time

"Best Community" award winner. Surrounded by a thriving, high-density population, this revitalized 34,000 sq. ft. centre, anchored by a specialty grocer, will offer a dynamic mix of tenants designed to serve both residents and visitors alike.

Inspired by successful urban commercial villages like The Shops at Boudreau and Currents of Windermere, Battalion Square prioritizes walkability, accessibility, and a carefully curated retail experience. Future expansion includes an additional 10,000 sq. ft. retail building with 6,000 sq. ft. of second-floor space, ensuring an open, welcoming atmosphere that seamlessly integrates into the community. This is a rare opportunity to secure space in one of Edmonton's most sought-after locations, where retail meets lifestyle in a way that's anything but ordinary.

Unpopular opinion but unless it’s like the Sherwood Park location, please not another L’OCA.
I'm on the same page. We are already surrounded by three Sobeys (Safeway, Freshco, Sobeys) and three Loblaws (T&T, Extra Foods, Superstore) corporate stores. This "specialty grocer" store should be a destination store where others from outside the community want to come and check it out or to get specialty items that only they carry. A miniature version of the Sherwood Park concept is okay, especially since they are working with a smaller footprint compared to the Park.

Any updated renders from Beljan? It doesn't seem to be very walkable.

Looks like daycare and grocer taking up most of the space with medical and wellness pending. I would like to see a coffee shop, or ice cream shop to draw more people in.

A grocery that's roughly 2,500 sf? If that's a convenience store, that's the last thing I'd be marketing on that part of the overall site. If I even wanted a convenience store to begin with, too.
