No retail units on this one right? At least the ground floor renders don't seem to show any

A cafe can go here

Ugh. The cookies from that cutter are already stale. Hard pass. I'd rather keep that parking lot going another 5-10 years until market conditions are more conducive to something more inspirational than this.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't know if Edmonton will have the appetite for anything "inspirational" for a loooong time (private development-wise, at least). You'd be waiting on this site for 20 years probably.

There's plenty of parking lots to go around, after all 🤣

I don’t really see the issue with this proposal. You see similar designs in places like Montreal… yes often all brick there but they don’t look cheap or out of place at all. For the size of downtown Edmonton, we already have a solid number of high-rises.

If The Parks 2 moves forward, and we add three more towers while the remaining gaps are filled with projects like this, downtown will finally start looking like a major city. Honestly, it would go a long way toward ending the perception that our downtown is a laughing stock.

Also, I just came back from Paris and most buildings look the same yet they have a charm to them. We don’t have to look like Toronto and Vancouver. Most cities don’t

There needs to be a place to grab cappuccinos and baked goods now that there's a brand-new park just across the street.
Bar Oro is right there with recently expanded hours. It was even packed on Remembrance Day.

I agree with @IanO this building doesn't need CRUs.

Thanks Westrich, Maclab, and the city for bringing this area to life.

How about more buildings like this, but covered in a good, always ageless brick??

It's too bad the 50 floor original proposal is not gonna be built. But it's a sign of the times that demand fr DT living is not as strong as we all want it to be. The fixing of social disorder issues, cleanliness etc still not being addressed in a fulsome manner. le sigh
