* Cross Post to 88 North Thread*

Ha, you put me on to another location............by scrolling down.

A No Frills is going in at 77 Shuter.Street.

That's the '88 North' condo.

That's the exact space that had been pegged for a Loblaws City Market a number of years ago but it never came to fruition.

Permits in process here:

FINALLY.

The Metro at Eglinton and Lloyd Manor has been selling RTD coolers and huge cases of beer for a couple of weeks now.

I saw that in the email I got from them this week (I used to think I might want to rent an apartment here. Life has moved on, but I'm still on their email list). Google doesn't reveal very much about this store. Is it any good?

Good to see undrinkable swill at under $2 a can................ uhhh, wait a minute..... how does that help me? LOL
You're the kind of downtown elite that Doug Ford thinks is the problem.

Just to note, this crud is selling for ~$5.50/L, when you can buy decent IPA like Goose Island for $53.79 for 24x473ml = $4.73/L at the Beer Store.

More of an East York elite, but sure, LOL

A dropout, (former?) hash dealer, who put his mistress in cabinet...........thinks I'm a problem? I wouldn't have it any other way.

Adonis is opening a store in the south end of London which I find super annoying as we still don’t have one in the central area in Toronto!

To know what to think of BestCo, let's start with their weekly flyer and take it from there. I am pretty much expecting that the Bathurst & Bloor store will be very similar to the Etobicoke store...but I could be wrong.
BestCo Etobicoke flyer:

Oh man, I had people over tonight and was thinking of stopping at Summerhill Market to get stuff for a charcuterie board. I decided to go to St. Lawrence Market instead. Good luck! Anti-Murphy's law.

Crazy expensive! You can get the same Molson 30 pack in Buffalo for $25 lol

That's in USD, right?

If so, that's $33.94CAD

Still a bunch cheaper to be sure, but not quite as extreme as it first looks.

The principle difference is excise tax, particularly provincial.

This graphic is six years old now......but very illustrative:

Based on the above, the difference is about .67c on each can.

A difference of $16 for a 24 in the example above, and if you extrapolated that to 30 it's an extra $20 in tax in Canada embedded in the price.

Brewer's Retail and LCBO markups account for most of the rest.
