^ you can do the a similar thing to that -- but without all the extra cost. Add more time for using a gun in any crime :p
 
Now locking up people that have committed crimes with guns (for a long time) will stop them from doing it again.

And we just accept that there will always be a victim.

It's odd how people will accept the registration of automobiles, but dislike the idea of having to register a gun. A gun, like a car, is not a right. If one wants to own a gun, they should have to pay insurance on it.
 
Bull, not without a search warrant. And to get a search warrant they must have probable cause. They can't just go fishing. The domestic disturbance is not grounds for a fishing trip. If they did, the courts would throw out the "evidence" anyway.

I don't think you understand the nature of the gun registry. It isn't used to gather any kind of evidence for a prosecution. The police, upon receiving a domestic disturbance call, for example, search the registry and discover that there are twenty guns in the house. That allows them to be much better prepared and not simply arrive with one or two officers.
