Not sure what these are for - part of the elevator system ? doesn't seem to be much space for a take-up real.

I've done more research than I should have, but we are looking at one of these: https://www.bearingtips.com/what-is-a-pillow-block-bearing/

It is most certainly a take up or elevator/lift component, but like you I don't full understand the engineering of it with it only being half assembled. Neat catch though!

It's kind of crazy how this building's roof is only 100 feet shorter than the Wilshire Grand in LA, and yet when I was in LA on the rooftops there, that thing stood out so much and in our city you have to crane your neck to see it from every angle but dead on from the West... Insane
