Agreed they will want the first three underway until proceeding. I doubt Castle and Nakiska will be anywhere close in scale to whst is possible at Fortress and Spray Valley.

A resort proposal at Cline River west of Nordegg has been raised several times over the decades. I'd be surprised if it had sufficient snowfall.

Besides Spray Valley, the only area I would imagine to have big snow would be in the Highwood Pass vicinity.

Alberta really needs to seize the opportunity to take market share from BC, which could suffer from climate change and uncertain land ownership, and the US.

Not for recreation purposes, but somewhat close (east and south):

I could see nakiska's being a decent scope. Certainly have the most going for it with regard to the lodge and golf already...way more "development" ready compared to fortress

This is going to be world class!

McElhanney’s trail design team helped to create our mountain bike and hiking trails. All of the trails are designed with the guidance of former pro mountain biker and now master trail designer Matt Hadley. Based out of Canmore, Matt and the McElhanney team are using top industry practices from the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), and the Whistler Trail Standards.

For construction, Brady Starr from Golden, BC will build the hiking trails and the advanced technical mountain bike line. Jeff Cook will lead the Lifetime Outdoor Inc. team in building the remaining mountain bike trails and skills development area. Jeff’s work will feature family flow and intermediate options.

After reviewing mountain coaster options worldwide, we partnered with trusted leaders Doppelmayr Canada and Sunkid to create an experience for the whole family. Designed by Sunkid’s top European ride designer in fall 2025, the 970‑metre track offers fun for all ages—whether you ride hands‑free or sit back and enjoy the views together.

ahh yes...the ancient burial ground idea, made famous during the west ring road debate, was quickly forgotten about with a larger cheque and strategic road access for development opportunities. We wont stand for a road on these lands....unless we can build a Costco-anchored Supercentre!! These frivolous complaints have become white noise that only hurts their cause.

The concerns with the west ring road were at least somewhat valid in that the road was going through the reserve land. Is there any such legal claim to these lands in K-Country?
They have no claim to these lands, but things that impact their treaty rights on "traditional lands" beyond the reserve area, the government has a duty to consult, but as far as I know, no veto power. They are not wrong that the government has to consult under Treaty 7, but they do not need their agreement.

This crazy from RCR. I thought iBC ski resorts were allergic to investment. Kicking horse gondola breaks down and they respond by building a redundancy from the base. Looking at you RMR.
I suspect business is on an upswing due to Westjet adding more direct flights to Calgary and Kelowna

Vail is struggling and has shifted focus away from real estate. Can't see it as a potential buyer
