Even if this environment, we can't stop the US takeover of some strategically important assets. Their refinery supplies 1/3 of fuels in Western Canada (or maybe just BC, unclear from the article). Basically all Journie stations (Chevron, FasGas, Ultramar), all the Essos with an On the Run convenience store.
It isn't nearly as strategic now that TMX has a much higher refined product ceiling. All of BC's needs can come down the pipe.

Also ownership doesn't matter. If we value it, and it is acting contrary to our interests, we can expropriate it at any time. If we aren't willing to expropriate it, our interests must not be substantial.
 
The idea of capital flowing to the steady return and that being Canadian Oil Sands is not a bad thing. Regardless of the flag that flies outside the office of the capital.
