Have we seen this one yet? This looks like another Sarina projects that bookends Marda Loop at 33 and 14 Street - https://dmap.calgary.ca/?p=DP2026-02795
Been waiting for this since the land use on the corner went through. Hot damn! I'll take another Harrison, much better than the generic suburban stuff going almost everywhere else.Have we seen this one yet? The CRUs on 14th Street are a great addition. The Enmax Substation south of this is also set to be used for affordable housing, I think the City is accepting proposals for it.Nice. It looks like the sale of that perpetual garage sale house on the corner allowed for a larger/better project.
Honestly, once this is done, I think 33rd is there. It will take a bit longer for it to be end-to-end but almost every block has an apartment, and every block has at least a set of townhomes or other infill. Now, increase the bus frequency in the area during rush hour.Really a critical corner to get right, especially with the retail. If they can pull this off it's a good stepping stone to legitimately thinking of 33rd as a retail and main street corridor end-to-end from Crowchild to 14th.
Also plugs into the pockets of action along 14th. A few more developments of this scale or other retail infill and we got a really strong - and long - corridors.
I’ll be interested to see how they incorporate the original substation building, and what the plaza might look like. https://calgaryhousingcompany.org/development-project-marda-loop/The CRUs on 14th Street are a great addition.
