Thanks! I wonder if there is going to be a re-evaluation of the preferred option? Will there be a competition for some parts of the landscape design? Will new development patterns/trends affect this?

Aside from this exciting news I noticed on Google Maps that there are 4 golf courses in the area and wondered what the plans are for those if any.

Took a little wonder in this area as I hadn’t been before. This section was just around Lavender Creek. Taken 31 August.

Started at The Stockyards which borders Lavender Creek to the south and always seems to get busier every time that I am there.

Walking up Gunn's Road you pass a slaugherhouse and bbq place as well as some reminders that not everyone is on board.

This seems to be the entrance the creek but goes right over it to McCormack which runs along the north side.

What I thought would be a ‘Regents Canal’ in the rough is actually a very small channel with a trickle of water bordered by a hydro corridor. There is a bike path here that is going to be connected to Weston Road.

All along McCormack are warehouses that are finding life as event spaces, mosques and a little gem of a café!

The work on the creek is in conjunction with major development planned on the south side of McCormack.

The buildings in the distance are on Jane Street.

The Junction Brewery is actually part of a complex of buildings that contain several independent breweries and gyms. Quite the emerging community hub!

Shacklands Brewery was the other surprise find and is a real gathering place where the locals love to talk about what is going on in the neighbourhood and especially the recent announcement.

There is a space in the sound barrier that leads to St. Clair and all of the newer residential development.

A public meeting was held on July 21, 2025 to learn about the Phase 1 of the Rockcliffe Flood Mitigation Project, and hear updates on the status of the Black Creek Sanitary Trunk Sewer and Basement Flooding Protection Program projects. The meeting included a presentation followed by a Question and Answer period.

See https://www.toronto.ca/community-people/get-involved/public-consultations/infrastructure-projects/rockcliffe-flood-mitigation-projects/

Phase One...
The City will replace both the Jane Street bridge and the Scarlett Road bridge over Black Creek. Each bridge will be constructed with a longer span to allow for widening of the concrete creek channel. A wider creek channel can carry more stormwater during severe storms, reducing the risk of flooding.

Development of designs for the bridges and surrounding area will consider opportunities for green space and public features outside of the channel.
There will be opportunities for public engagement as the Phase 1 design process moves forward.

"Provision for future transit in dedicated right of way included within bridge substructure"?

Is the dedicated right-of-way for a future Jane light rail line be on the surface or underground?

I really don't see what you're seeing. It looks more like one lane could be converted to a transit lane. I also doubt we'll see a Jane LRT in our lifetime. A rapidTO bus lane is more likely.

Based on the render, looks like the abutments are being built wider to support a widened bridge in the future—so, surface.

Naturally they go with the narrowest sidewalk they can legally construct.

Being in the Etobicoke York Community (Ward 1, Etobicoke North; Ward 2, Etobicoke Centre; Ward 3, Etobicoke-Lakeshore; Ward 5, York South-Weston; Ward 7, Humber River-Black Creek), which includes Ward 2 Councillor Stephen Holyday, sidewalks are NOT a priority. Stephen Holyday even wants veto power over the installation of sidewalks in his ward.
