I have had many gripes about this project but I'm glad it's finally close to wrapping up. Looks real good and I'm glad they were able to retain a lot of the mature trees. Climbing wall/washroom not being open till next year doesn't bother me.

I love this little park. I worked on it with Wayne Scott Architects back in the day (its original version) along with the skinny building beside it -- two parks in the same time frame -- Beaver Hills and Paul Kane. It does my heart good to see both renewed and expanded with great sensibility and thoughtfulness -- they have only gotten better with age.

The little adjoining park (now incorporated -- all into one) always brings to mind Leonard Cohens song "Closing Time" from his album "The Future". See if you can pick up the reference (disclaimer: once you do you will have the same problem of not being able to clear your head every time you see the park -- sonic worm!)

All the women tear their blouses off
And the men, they dance on the polka-dots
Just kidding

The Gates of Love, they budged an inch
I can't say much has happened since
But closing time (closing time, closing time, closing time)

Voila! C'est ça!
The whole album although now more than a couple of decades old seems to be very prescient vis-a-vis our present-day circumstance re hate and authoritarian leanings. It makes me wonder why much of today's youth bends to the exact opposite solution with regards the problems that they face... something is clearly missing here.
