Canada has studied HSR to death. It is time for action. We are the experts of studying HSR. Every government seems to do a study on HSR. Time to stop studying it and and put shoves into the ground and build that which we have been studying for decades.
No kidding, you bring up a good point:

There have been more than two dozen cases/studies/study-like papers on the Corridor alone.

Canada very likely has the most HSR-related literature for a country without HSR...

Canada very likely has the record for the most HSR-related literature for a country without any HSR...
So, stop studying and start digging.

I didn't realize how much "studying" had been done going back 40 years..........😲

These were 100+ page documents written for the government, the verdict of every feasibility study: HSR is feasible. Would be operationally profitable.

February 2011, Feasibility Study of a High Speed Rail Service in the Québec City – Windsor Corridor:
244 pages

August 1995: Quebec-Ontario High Speed Rail Project - Final Report, for the Government of Canada, Ontario and Quebec
121 pages

March 1995: Quebec Ontario High Speed Rail Project - Preliminary Routing Assessment and Costing Study
108 pages

February 1995: Quebec- Ontario High Speed Rail Project- Industrial Strategy Study - Simpson Guerin Consortium
130 pages

May 1991: Ontario/Québec Rapid Train Task Force Final Report
237 or 490 pages

April 1990: High Speed Rail in the Quebec / Ontario Corridor - A Review of Previous Studies, Final Report
186 pages

^That was a review of 6 of 8 previous studies on the Corridor from BEFORE APRIL 1990.

@Mrgeosim Alto has moved beyond preliminary feasibility studies. HSR has been deemed feasible. They've moved on to the co-development stage. AFAIK this means detailed project design, EA/impact assessment, and final business case. If you want to read Alto's 100+ page documents, you'll have to wait a bit longer.

This is why I am saying stop studying it and just build it. We have all the information we need. We know its suspected success rate.

No no, let's forget that a 1984 Via feasibility study showed that HSR would cover operating & maintenance while repaying capital at a 2.5% real rate of return. Let's forget all of it because everything in the past is invalid now. Times have changed. Berlin Wall fell. Dotcom bubble. Bush invaded Iraq. China rose. Great recession. Russia invaded Ukraine. Covid. Russia invaded Ukraine, again. Inflation.

Let's keep studying it for another 40 years just to make sure we get it PERFECT. @Mrgeosim is right.

You forgot gas going over $2 a litre in some areas.....

Some interesting links this morning:
While it's not news that Alto has been staffing up in various roles, this particular posting might be of interest to people on this forum due to its apparent emphasis on transit-oriented development in station areas: Director, Real Property Development
