If Quebec separated, they wouldn't keep the Outaouais. There is too much federal investment and integration with Ottawa. Gatineau would explode in population.
I'd be surprised if they even kept Montreal or the Nunavik region. There is nothing stopping a referendum for the Outaouais or Montreal region from splitting off from Quebec. There is also the Indigenous north of Alberta. Our First Nations have come out and said Northern Alberta and Nunavik would split off as they are provided to the provinces as agreements from the federal government. As much as separatists want to act like they are big numbers (they're not, there's been a lot of articles of fake posters from other countries paid to push the agenda online), they are not the majority.

Even if they were, splitting will not be easy and lots of their province proper will be lost if they go through with it. So I don't see that as the reason Brigil is putting a pause. Must be the lack of population growth and strict immigration. The temporary workers and student numbers dropping significantly. is also part of that.

I think it would be a European-style separation, with autonomy to these provinces within Canada. Then other provinces would ask to have the same deal. Some hard-core Albertans might want a total separation à-la Brexit, or even joint the US. That is not in their best interest, I would argue. Depending on the kind of deal Quebec would get with Canada, I would expect some anglo, bilingual and French-speaking immigrants moving to Orléans. I am surprised to see that topic pop up here but I sure love it!

No province is separating from Canada. We just need a federal government who can spread the fairness amongst the provinces to stop the 'separatists' from having a reason to petition that movement.
