So it sounds like whether it's closer or farther is pretty much distributed by random chance :)

I'm actually in a new riding, so am not sure whether it's closer or farther to my current place than previous elections. But the advance poll is farther away than I would have thought they targeted. Is there just one advance voting location per riding?

I've heard mixed reviews on the Easter weekend dates -- great, people are home! bad, people are away! You can apply for a mail-in ballot until April 22, and you can also go to an Elections Canada office on any day up until the advance polls open.
On a more personal note, because of this advice I took I was able to successfully vote today. Thank you very much for this! /bows

OTTAWA, ON, April 14, 2025 /CNW/ - Selected by the Leaders' Debates Commission to produce two federal leaders' debates, CBC/Radio-Canada today announced the debates' themes and formats.

  • Both debates will be broadcast live from the atrium of Maison de Radio-Canada in Montreal.
  • Each debate will be 120 minutes in length without commercial interruption, featuring similar formats, with an emphasis on open debate and questions asked by a single moderator.
  • Each debate will feature five main editorial themes, as outlined below.
The English-language debate will be moderated by Steve Paikin, host of TVO's flagship current affairs program The Agenda with Steve Paikin, on Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. (EDT). The English debate themes are as follows, in alphabetical order:

Affordability and the cost of living

Energy and climate

Leading in a crisis

Public safety and security

Tariffs and threats to Canada

Last week, the parties participated in draws to determine podium positions for both the French and English debates, as well as the order of arrivals and post-debate scrums.

For those who don't follow the NHL, there are only one or two games left in the regular season for most teams before the playoffs begin (I think they start on Saturday).

The Habs are in a battle with the Columbus Blue Jackets to lock up the last playoff spot. The Habs have one game left, the Blue Jackets two.
So it could be a pivotal game for the Habs tomorrow, however the Blue Jackets play tonight, and if they lose that game then that's it, and the Habs are in.
So declaring this now is stupid and childish attention seeking "look at me I know the hockeys things!" It's frankly embarrassing if this is all the NDP has left in their toolkit before their national obliteration.

I'll probably advance vote, but I am going to watch the debate before making up my mind who to vote for.
For me, it's already been decided who I should back. Basing it on policies I can get mostly behind, the likeliness they are to win and with this election, who is the best person (and party) to stare down Donald Trump. I don't really need debates determine that. As debates are prone to declare "winners" by media pundits who have vested interest in seeing the candidate (and their party) they like to win the election. So they are a bit pointless in the end, IMO...

...but at the end of the day and with enough vetted info out there, I am unlikely to regret my choice. And for what that's worth.

I met former Premier Christy Clark yesterday. She is out stumping with Liberal candidates in tight ridings. Very friendly and personable.

Is that man actually an idiot or just pretending?

He can't seriously think they will change the date of the debate.
The Bloc are also calling for it to be changed, and as the post makes clear, this has happened before.
So why would he not believe it's possible to change the date?

BIG endorsement out tonight. Singer Neil Young has come out, penning a letter in support of Liberal Leader Mark Carney
