The Conservative Party of Canada was a result of the merger of the Progressive Conservatives of Canada and the Reform Party of Canada/Canadian Alliance.

The Liberal Party of Canada and the New Democratic Party of Canada should consider a merger.
I cannot imagine looking at the unholy alliance between the Reform and PCs and wishing to replicate it on the remainder of our political spectrum.

We lost Toryism in this country in favour of this far-right proto-authoritarian anti-intellectual populist movement. It was a mistake.

I much rather see the world where the CPC party is split, a viable centre-right party is formed centered on intrinsic Canadian values, and we enact much needed electoral reform.

To be fair, neither would the NDP for awhile now. To really do that I think there has to be a national consensus that runaway capitalism is a bad thing.

Political will is an important thing thing here...even when I agree it is a bad thing.

Polls are only right when Conservatives are in the lead.

Went to the Carney rally in Hamilton tonight. Good speech but he is not an energetic speaker. Lots of people there, huge line to get in, decent sized overflow crowds outside. Couldn't get a photo of the man himself but he walked near me like twice and I feel that is enough for me. Sometimes seeing is the best photo... also a photo of the campaign bus that I was able to get.

Just gotta go to some of the street festivals in Toronto. One weekend in 2023 before Chow was elected I bumped into her and PP within about 45 minutes of each other. The friend I was with isn't very politically aware and I pointed out Chow. He asked who she was and I told him she was the future mayor of Toronto and her aide was very chuffed about it. I had to laugh.

I have never and probably will never go to a political rally. I think I'm just too busy and it wouldn't really change anything. I wouldn't be persuaded to vote for someone by attending a rally.

Yup. My son is five and has met the mayor several times. And our MP and MPP. They all go to things like BIG on Bloor (or whatever your neighbourhood is).

In the context of the poll skeptics above...

I saw this circulated by someone on social:

Yikes.............

Yikes indeed.

It is hard to believe but there are still a ton of conspiracy nuts out there. My father included.

My father was reading online about how "Mark Carney was involved with Jeffrey Epstein and Epstein Island" and how he was "forced out" of the Bank of England due to causing problems for them. He was reading online that Mark Carney caused inflation to skyrocket in the UK and as a result everyone hates him there apparently.

My fathers famous line is "You watch, just watch when all the **** comes out and you will see what he is really up to".

It is worth noting that my father is more akin to a bible-belt republican than he is a Liberal or NDP supporter. He firmly believes that Pierre Pollievre will do wonders for Canada and save us all!

I too have heard the famous, " wait till they come out with....", usually coupled with, " do the research ". Problem is, nothing ever comes out. Apparently, the omniscient " they", are non-existent. Now, muck-raking on the other hand is a skill would-be pundits excel at.

All while Justinflation was ravaging the Canadian economy and Joe Biden was causing inflation in the US. Just a coincidence that it was all at the same time, I guess, couldn't have been something bigger going on.

It's always the "Elite", or "The Swamp" when a government they don't like is in power, but as soon as their camp wins and starts bending them over a barrel, all of a sudden, everything's hunky dory. Made even worse by the stupid amounts of bots and troll farms working against more socially progressive politicians on social media spaces...

Do we really want to become a two party state?
If Canadians elect the Liberal Party again, after nearly a decade of in power, it may be that Canada may enter into a virtually single-party state in the longer term. Despite the insincerity of my comment here, the Canadian voter seems often too apathetic to create robust political parties of smaller sizes; or even if coalitions where the case in many elections going forward, one might argue the efficacy of the 'compromises' inherent in the system may be less than idealized.
