The survey closes October 13, 2022.

At the Dec 16 council meeting following the vote on the budget, Coun. Principe put forward a motion to have the 132 Ave plan reversed back to 4 vehicle lanes instead of the planned 2 lanes. She argued that keeping it as 4 lanes would be safer because of all the schools and kids getting dropped off and would save money to keep it more or less the same as is.

The motion failed with only Principe, Rice and Hamilton in support.

Project is set to begin construction in 2023.

Construction Update - November 2024 (97 Street to 127 Street)

The 132 Avenue West Collector Renewal project has wrapped up for the 2024 construction season!

2024 construction began in May and was finished the third week of October. The 2024 construction season was a success and we completed all planned construction including:

  • The reconstruction of roads, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, Low Impact Development installation, bike lanes, signals and new street lights in the following areas:
    • 132 Avenue - 97 Street to 101 Street
    • 132 Avenue -107 Street to 113A Street
There are some naturalized turf areas along the boulevard that were not completed from 107 Street to 113A Street. The outstanding work will resume once the weather warms up in early May. The landscape subcontractor will be completing the topsoil and sod placement. By waiting until spring, the sod is more likely to establish.

Year 3 of construction along 132 Avenue West will resume in the first week of May 2025, weather permitting. The planned scope for 2025 will include 113A Street to 122 Street. Prior to work resuming, construction notifications will be delivered to impacted residences.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we completed another successful year of construction. Construction on 132 Avenue West began in May 2023 and is anticipated to be complete in 4 years (fall 2026). The entire 132 Avenue Collector Renewal project (Fort Road to 127 Street) is expected to take 5 years (completion in fall 2027).

The 132 Avenue West project is progressing on time and on budget.

Construction Update - November 2024 (Fort Road to 97 Street)

132 Avenue East Collector Renewal construction has wrapped up for the 2024 construction season!

2024 construction began in June and was finished the last week of October. The 2024 construction season was a success and we completed all planned construction including the reconstruction of roads, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, bike lanes, SUPs, continuous crossings, landscaping, corner store business upgrades and new street lights along 132 Avenue between Fort Road and 66 street.

There are some landscape elements such as shrubs, perennials and naturalized turf that were not completed in 2024. The outstanding work will be completed when construction resumes in 2025. Parts of the 2024 construction area may also require sod. Once the weather warms up, typically in early May, the landscape subcontractor will be completing the topsoil and sod placement. By waiting until spring, the sod is more likely to establish.

132 Ave East Renewal work will resume between 66 Street to 82 Street in the second week of April 2025, weather permitting. Prior to work resuming, construction notifications will be delivered to impacted residences.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we completed the first year of renewal construction on 132 Avenue East. 132 Avenue East Collector Renewal construction began in June 2024 and is expected to take 4 years (completion in October 2027) and is progressing on time and on budget.

Construction Update - April 2025 (97 Street to 127 Street)

It’s the third year of 132 Ave Renewal West and we are scheduled to start in April 2025! Work will consist of reconstruction and paving of the roads, removal and replacement of public sidewalk, curb, gutter and street lighting.

This year, the majority of construction will take place from 113 A Street to 121 Street. Please view this scope map to see the 2025 construction area. Work will also happen in the commercial area along 113 A Street.

For those who live in the 2025 construction area, specifically from 113 A Street and 121 Street, the remaining landscaping work is scheduled to start at the same time as this year’s construction. Landscaping work is highly dependent on weather and sod availability.

The City of Edmonton and EPCOR are working together to construct Low Impact Development (LID), which will help with stormwater retention and help mitigate flooding.

If you live in the 2025 construction area, please watch your mailbox for construction bulletins that will provide more information along with details on landscaping and access. All residents and business owners are asked to access their homes and businesses through the back entrances and alleys, where possible, during construction. If no alley access is available and/or you have special access requirements (i.e. DATS or a temporary access ramp to the front of your home), please contact the Construction Project Manager, Alban Ukshini, 780-496-4055, to coordinate.

A lot of that corridor is a time capsule, a sea of bungalows. Before the zoning change, it was likely impossible to put in infills.

I wish they would accelerate the project. I fear the rest of this project is a prime target for budget cuts.

We're hearing this is not happening today but it may have happened a month ago. Construction has apparently mobilized for this year's sections. But I'm ready to cancel lunch and head there if this is indeed going on.
