Lost opportunity
I hope the main level of this apartment building will be redeveloped or something will fill the space that attracts more people.

However, there is a lot of empty retail commercial and retail space downtown and only so many cafes' restaurants, bars and Shoppers Drug Marts to fill them. We still really need more variety of retail downtown.

The street front improvements here are nice, but if you build it, they don't always come. There is a lot more to making downtown attractive and reviving it than this.

I’m grateful for the trees at least. We need way more of those downtown. Love the jasper ave ones west of 109st that they added. All of 103ave DT needs those. 102ave too

Churchill apartments were purchased by Prokey (out of Chilliwack BC) and they were a disaster. However the major reno is done and the building has new life and apartment leasing has begun and people are moving in weekly. That will help the area.

I walked through this precinct on Friday at lunch and there were about a handful of people laying/sitting around there not doing well. And then a few more in the alley by the dumpsters behind this building.

Good to hear Churchill apartments starting to fill up though.

Well it’s the city’s fault for making all of these little studio bedroom apartments out of those concrete alcoves with private benches

Not a fan of the mulch in the planters. It just looks cheap and lazy IMO. Some turf would've looked much nicer here. Also, I think there's an opportunity to add a sculpture or some other type of public art piece here

The walk from City Hall to the Moss Pit is a lot nicer now, but I can't help but think it's still a bit janky. The section between 101 and 102 St still feels like a back alley, while the wider sidewalks feel empty... or lived in.

With that new clinic/pharm/methadone space on 100st/103A, the east end of this is a real adventure.

Are there any patios between 101-102?
And what about patios on 100-101st with all that space?

Guru and Delux have patios.
Not sure about MSSM.
Joey has dropped the ball.

And what about patios on 100-101st with all that space?

As mentioned elsewhere, a patio is required for O'Byrne's once they get rid of the on-street parking in front of it..
Pazzo Pazzo also needs a patio.

Isn't it the other way around -- Joey has a patio and Guru doesn't?

The issue is the frontage is too spotty, with loading zones, garbage bins, and parkade entrances interspersed between.

Losing Rose and Crown was a big blow, glad to see O'Byrne's take over that location.

It would be really nice to see the City designate the cross of 102 St (Delta to the Casino) and 103 Ave (City Hall to Miss Pit) as an entertainment district, especially during the playoffs and other big arena events.

I drove by twice today.
Guru and Delux have patios. However, both of them are unused.
Ditto for Pazzo Pazzo.
Joey does not not have a patio unless it's hidden away somewhere in the alley.

Overall, another missed opportunity by the city.

We should replace the "City of Champions" signs at our entrances with "City of Missed Opportunities" signs.

Joey's doesn't have a fenced off area but they open the windows and put out a tables in the summer, or at least they did a couple years ago. Same with Amore before the construction started.

Even the BP at Edmonton Tower doesn't have a patio -- it's a crying shame.

I hope Pazzo Pazzo is doing better now. The owners got busted a few years back for smuggling booze and they were forced to shut down for a while.
