That is a great point. It is one of few if not the only stadium that is soccer specific for the World Cup. It gives me a bit of an old school Premier League vibe, and that is not a bad thing.
I've been trying to make this point over and over with every "new" soccer fan on Reddit and Facebook. BMOs evolution has been very similar to a small team being promoted via the English football pyramid.

this transformation may not look visually aesthetic but it is completely safe and the views will beat any dome field in NFL-specific configurations

One thing this stadium has over all the others in the World Cup is the proximity of the seats to the field. It's really enclosed in there and should create an amazing atmosphere.

The gap between the pitch and seats in the north end is too large IMO.

From the inside it actually looks kind of cool, in my opinion. I agree that at some point I do think it would make sense for Toronto to explore the idea of a permanent 50/60k seat stadium that could host large events/NFL/Large soccer games like every mid to large sized US city has. Especially now that the Rogers Centre has been renovated to become much more baseball specific. Too bad hosting World Cup games wasn't a catalyst for that. Either way, I think this should do the job ok - or at least doesn't seem like it'll be an embarrassment.

That gap is there for accessible seating and only looks like a "gap" because it largely sits empty.

It's a legal requirement to have a certain percentage of the stadium be accessible, and with the capacity increasing they had to put them somewhere.

Cruel idea to stick our most vulnerable in the target zone of error prone strikers. Can’t wait for Kai Havertz to miss an absolute sitter and nail a handicap fella!

BMO Field will host a "Week Zero" NCAA Football game in Aug 2027 between Wake Forest and Syracuse.

Wake Forest will be designated as the home team.

I'll never understand the obsession with US college sports. Nevermind other countries hosting US college sports?

I see US colleges as "gladiator schools", where they train future "gladiators" for the big arenas.

totally agree. I was a bit taken aback from the outside but when I sat at my seat it looked totally fine. Honestly surprised by how stark the difference in appearance was inside vs outside

Not much different than the obsession with American baseball, American basketball, American movies, American TV shows.......

Wake Forest has a weak football tradition and has the smallest football stadium among the four big college conferences. They'll make more money by selling a home game to whoever is promoting this, and there will be a large Syracuse contingent at the game to help with attendance.

High-level professional sports is one thing but being obsessed with colleges/universities you didn't go to is weird.

I think the whole professional amateur thing that is NCAA sport is bizarre. There are towns in the US where the local highschool football stadium seats more than the people at the school. Wild!

I think popularity of ncaa sports is completely normal. A nation that big cannot only have nba, nfl etc without tiered leagues. In Europe you have regulated and promoted teams through different leagues. When you dont have that system, you need other options as well as a funnel to create top athletes. Ncaa produces prof athletes, thinking it's too popular makes no sense and would advocate for worse results in producing talent.
