Reported today on Sportsnet.ca that Mark Cuban has taken a stake in our former Honey Badgers. I was surprised a big name like him is involved. Could be he sees growth potential in the CEBL.

I also have to wonder with 3 Fall/Winter leagues taking up 60 dates + playoffs...is this still a "concert first" venue? I wonder if the CEBL will return as well.

Toronto, Detroit, Hamilton. Really puts to bed the long held thinking that the market is overly saturated and that's why the NHL won't come here. Even without Buffalo, you'd have to think if 3 PHWL teams can work, 4 NHL teams would have no problem.

Based on the mayor's comments, it sounds like it's a done deal PWHL is coming to Hamilton.

I don't think the NHL continues to grow. There is a dichotomy in society between the upper levels of rich and the rest of us. How can anyone agree to Bettemans $2B fee in this economy, where's the return? Are they expecting fans to pay $300 for the cheapest tickets? It doesn't make sense. I do...

Well...yaa, I think we all knew that. But you need to be that and have the NHL in support. We're sorta discussing the second part.

I'd imagine the Islanders have insight into that possibility, and if what most think is true, the NHL is highly unlikely to return, so why not back the name at least. Your research sounds interesting, and also seems to back up what's been said over the years. Hamilton would be a great...

I'm not alone, a cursory look of comment sections across social media shows quite a few people are well aware of the Tigers name and history. To your point, it's been over 100 years and no one was alive, so it'll essentially be a "fresh start since no one was around the first time. And I...

    Hamilton Toronto | TD Coliseum Renovations | ?m | 4s | OVG | BBB

I'm surprised they arent having a fan vote. If they really want to ingrain the team into the community like they say, weird approach to force some lame moniker on us no one associates with. Tigers is the name it sounds like most would feel a sense if ownership for. They'd probably sell the...

Then we'd be the Hamilton Hammerheads, the nickname could be the Triple H's.

My take is that they're 1 full renovation behind. This is the renovation that should have happened in the early 2000s, but instead of skipping ahead to a modern one, they went with the early 2000s one anyway. The biggest issues imo are: 1. The main entrance/foyer should have been a complete...

Hopefully they're called the Hamilton Tigers as a call back to our stolen NHL team. They were the BridgePort Sound Tigers at one point, so it works in that way to buy dropping the "sound".

I could see Thunder training camp + Thunder / Raptors preseason game... heck, maybe a regular season game.

You're not wrong at all. And I understand the purpose and intended tenants of the arena. But for me, as a life long Hamiltonian who's worked in local planning, I want us to take that step forward and shake off that old reputation. We're getting there. But seeing the new arenas in Edmonton...

    Hamilton Toronto | TD Coliseum Renovations | ?m | 4s | OVG | BBB

The thing with the PWHL is the entire league is owned by one person/entity. So there's a greater likelihood they'll go to the best markets, for both growth and ticket sales. This is contrary to the NHL where top markets like Hamilton are barred from entry due to individual owners of each team...
