    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

A fellow advocate - Adam - got this note from MTO last week regarding Bill 60 and the exemption process when he asked about the Bloor Street Redesign in Mississauga. Could be some food for thought for Eglinton and other projects derailed by the legislation. 🤔

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Just as how you have the free Dorval shuttle between Dorval VIA station and Montréal Trudeau Airport. ;)

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Not surprised. If a stop at or near Kingston is what's needed to move Alto forward, so be it. Still better than giving in to the rural folks and PP who are gung ho opposed

For those looking for a letter template to e-mail City Council in support of Member Motion MM42.39, I just sent this via the open streets petition this morning. -- TO: councilmeeting@toronto.ca CC: mayor_chow@toronto.ca; (your councillor’s e-mail); open.streets.toronto@gmail.com Subject...

    East Don Trail Project

@DSCToronto shared this update in the Cycling Infrastructure thread which ought to be cross posted here. Would be great to see this trail gap from Charles Sauriol Park (DVP-Lawrence) to the Betty Sutherland Trail get filled in. Of course, there's still the Phase 3 trail to deal with.

Josh Matlow also has a petition on his website regarding the matter. https://www.joshmatlow.ca/pedestrianization

About time! However, we still need the City (and TRCA) to follow through with Phase 3 of the East Don Trail to ensure a fully connected trail.

Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension Airport Segment

Even with the transfer at Mount Dennis, the UP option would likely be faster given fewer stops. Having said that, it doesn't mean an Airport extension to Line 5 wouldn't be worthwhile. Heck, it could also be worth extending Line 6 there in order to make Pearson a true transportation hub.

    Don Mills Crossing

I was surprised there hadn't been any updates on this thread since 2019 (until yesterday) given the project website indicated the following: A public consultation was held in March 2021. (link to slides) Toronto City Council approved Motion IE23.18 about the matter in July 2021. The...

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

Jessie Ye of Community Bikeways (TCBC) recently prepared a graduate research report on cyclist safety in construction zones. A summary of her findings was published in Spacing. https://spacing.ca/toronto/2026/06/18/bike-lane-closed/

Rouge Beach is federal, but still frustrating regarding all those trail closures and lack of acceptable detours.

At the rate things are going, the Lower Don project could take even more time than even the East Don Trail Phase 1!
