    East Don Trail Project

Hope that the city has some really competent lawyers working on this. The devil will be in those "post-closing obligations" details.

With the sweetheart deals that golf courses have for their tax bills, they are not in great position to refuse to cooperate with the city. But of course that would require someone at the political level to force the issue, not just at the city but at the province as well.

TTC hasn't got around to update their web site policies for "light rail" yet. Give it another year or two 😉. But whatever the policies are (for this and other things), there is very little enforcement anyway. So just use common sense and be considerate to other passengers. And when you get on...

Thank you, that helps, even if some of the information is kept confidential by the city council. The hearings, meetings, tribunals and court cases will take many years yet. In the meanwhile, how difficult would it be to put in a "temporary" trail along the golf course?Perhaps the golf club would...

    East Don Trail Project

To an outsider without inside information, there is an obvious solution that would work for just about everybody. The golf course is on a flood plain, so no housing can be built there. So why not allow the golf course to continue to exist as long as they accommodate a bicycle trail, and let the...

How many injuries and resulting court cases will it take before ML decides to replace the floor tiles?

    East Don Trail Project

It is a beautiful trail, a nice addition to the Don River trail network. Too bad there is a lack of urgency to have it all finished. Perhaps the October election will be a hard deadline. If you ride the trail from north to south, be careful going down the slope between the Bermondsey transfer...

Definitely not on some. The train I was on today had the volume turned up way beyond to what the speakers could handle. The sound was so distorted that it was impossible to understand the announcements.

Speed is the most important thing for some people but not for others. For me, the most important thing is reliability, which really means predictability. If my TTC trip may randomly and unpredictably take anywhere in the range from 20 to 45 minutes, I will find other ways of getting to where I...

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

TTC has been operating light rail services for close to half a year now, but they have not yet updated their rules for taking bicycles on TTC vehicles. Or if they have, the updates are well hidden. The relevant pages on the TTC web site only mention buses, streetcars and subways. It is pretty...

I very much hope not. That would be another closure for a year (or two).

Yes, right on. Or even more simply, instead of rebuilding the Moriyama Dr underpass, just allow east-to-west U-turn at Mike Palmateer Rd.

Line 5 has been in service for over three months now, so how much performance data do we have? Are the numbers still kept secret, not for public consumption? In particular, I would really like to know how well the combination of automated and manual control manages to keep the trains evenly...

One thing that is there is the park. One reason given for having the stop was that people would take LRT to go to the park instead of driving. To me that sounds like wishful thinking, but we'll see. It shouldn't be too difficult to compile stats on how many people get on and off there.

    East Don Trail Project

East Don Trail will need more places that let people sit down and take in the view. Specially by the water, as the river is the main attraction of the trail.
