Those seats seem to get dirtier too (or at least it shows more easily). Probably from those who are ignorant about putting their dirty shoes on the upholstery as they put their feet up during the winter... and I don't want to think about other reasons (spilled beverages is one, but others may be...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

[Amended my original response] It is definitely sad. I think there's an earth berm where a ramp from QEW westbound was supposed to go over Upper Middle Rd. to connect to the 403 NB (unless it was just a convenient place to pile excavated material). Imagine how different travel patterns through...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

QEW and 9th Line (Ford Drive) in the first phase; I think the intention was to have the 403 skirt the northern edge of the urban area in Burlington and Oakville to make it a true alternate to the QEW. It also notes Burlington to the 401 near the airport, though the route had changed (which I...

I was having a hard time placing this until I mapped the address and realized it's north of Barton. (also, lots of parking lots off Victoria and behind the buildings that front onto it... I've seen some, but that's more than I thought; and Barton/Wellington is awful for vacant lots)

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Just want to note that the section of what was to be the 403 the article refers to is now the 407, between the Freeman Interchange in Burlington and where the 403 and 407 meet in western Mississauga. Interesting to me was the Ministry's exec. director of planning having an expectation of GO...

Hopefully it's just not shown because of a simplified render. If it's still planned, it's probably to be brick panelling though.

I too wonder how they've forecast operations & maintenance, never mind how they arrived at the estimated figure itself. I would guess that someone has summed annual projected employment (i.e., "person-years of work"), though that's more often an issue for construction employment estimated using...

    Hamilton: General Service Discussion

Thanks! I've never seen much traffic on Birch. Could be the times of day I was using it, but anything more than 3 vehicles was rare (even the sections closer to Cannon, where cars parallel park). I expect that HSR use on that side of the block should not be impeded much by passenger autos.

And some local opposition (as if that EVER happens in this town)

McMaster, again showing the city what it could have if it just tried a little bit harder.

Much better than the empty lot that is there now.

Yeah. Something. Hopefully not another Vranich "Special" (or his typical 'bait and switch'... Propose one thing, but end up with another that's taller but looks so generic it could have been drawn on an Etch-a-sketch)

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

My understanding is that any work on the Hunter St. tunnel would be limited by impacts to high-rise foundations along the route. However I do feel that's a somewhat dubious excuse, and it's really a question of money. CPKC won't fund it, but maybe the province would.

Only until it burns due to someone cooking up inside and losing control of their gear. I really hope not though, as Gage Ave. hasn't had a lot of love thus far.

What, and destroy what was once Pete & Marty's?... I'm sure a number of babies owe their conception to that place.
