Toronto Toronto | AGO: Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery | 48.35m | 6s | AGO | Selldorf

Yes, but no one takes pictures of the other side of the room! Haha. The picture is more to show the arches since they are pretty similar all around the court. But if you stand in the court and look North, you'd see the ones that were part of the older façade. ...Okay, I did a bit of digging...

If you're asking about the 1920s/early 1970s era, the old main entrance was still on Dundas, but is now inside the building. You can still see the old façade's arches in the lobby:

The AGO is such an interesting building. So many different eras of Toronto's history have contributed something to it—all the way back to the 1817 when the Grange was first built.

St. Catharines Toronto | St. Kitts Urban Towns | ?m | 3s | Dazz Group | Standard Practice

While Toronto may have condos that are shoeboxes on the inside, St. Catharines can have townhomes that are shoeboxes on the outside! 😄👍

    Niagara Falls Toronto | Parkline Apartments | ?m | 10s | Elite Developments | Kirkor

Wow. Where would contemporary architects be without AutoCAD's Presspull command on hotkey? It basically does the design for you! 🙃

    Hamilton Toronto | 3530 Upper James Street | 14m | 2s | RealPro Homes

Wow that's a big parking lot! On the plus side, at least the buildings will be along the street. Though I'm curious if McDonald's is a savvy choice. I haven't been inside one in years, so I don't know for sure, but I'd think their sales/market share would be in decline for being such an American...

    Hamilton Toronto | Eastgate Square Redevelopment | ?m | 20s | Harrison Equity | BDP Quadrangle

I agree a re-re-redevelopment of Centre Mall likely won't happen for a while. That said, the city's own MTSA Report (Aug, 2023) does consider the Mall a "Community Node" and states: and: In fact, the final MTSA report relies on redevelopment at Centre Mall in order to meet density...

    Hamilton Toronto | Eastgate Square Redevelopment | ?m | 20s | Harrison Equity | BDP Quadrangle

I hope that a development like this will one day be in the works for Centre Mall. It could be a great place for a high density TOD with a new platform for GO trains on the CN line, and could really help bring more foot traffic to the Barton/Kenilworth business corridors.

    Architectural Style Inquiry

I'm late to this party, but yes, this is an example of Greek Revival, specifically, Greek Revival in the Doric Order. That said, it isn't incorrect to call it Classical, since the term can be used to refer to any architecture from classical antiquity, however that term is mostly reserved for...

    Hamilton Toronto | Stirling Townes | 14.3m | 3s | Shane | KNYMH

For sure! I realized after posting that, based on the rear elevation, these homes do indeed have basements. I'd also add, I think another, at least "soft" factor, is shifting attitudes towards 3-4 storey houses. Those protruding garage homes are often only two-storeys. Granted, building on your...

    Hamilton Toronto | Stirling Townes | 14.3m | 3s | Shane | KNYMH

One recent trend I'm noticing in lower-density architecture of late that I'm really loving and not hearing anyone talk about, is the move away from having gigantic two-car garages protruding from the front. Looking at townhomes built even just 10-15 years ago, it was so common for them to have...

    Hamilton Toronto | Stonehouse Apartments | ?m | 4s | Indwell | Invizij Architects

Oh neat! I used to clean this church. Fun fact: There's full-on Basketball court in its basement. I know doing something like this has been discussed for decades, so it's nice to see something finally happen. There is a really cool apartment in the building as it is now, and I'm sure that will...

    Hamilton Toronto | 1223 Main Street West | ?m | 8s | Scholar Properties | CGS Architects

I think the intent is to take subtle cues from the McMaster Children's Hospital? I don't know... Honestly, while I can understand people being turned off by this design, I kind of like the idea of people tasked with creating a concept dialling it up to 11 thousand with the most ridiculously...

    Hamilton Toronto | Corktown Plaza | 91.43m | 27s | Slate | Core Architects

I'm curious if the city will get involved regarding the multi-bedroom reductions. Getting rid of them would really run counter to the city's "Family Friendly Housing" Project. 🤔

    Hamilton Toronto | 354 King Street West | 82.71m | 26s | Vrancor Development | NEUF

I know it might be too much to ask for great architecture from a Vrancor... but my Lord! I can't wait for the day architects and developers kick their obsession with AutoCAD's PressPull command! 🤮
