Well, to be fair, a huge differentiator- should we be able to build subways for the cost we built this LRT? Yes, it has been done in past toronto, and in current elsewhere. are we, in the big '26, in Toronto, Canada, able to build subways for the cost we built this LRT? Hell no. Simultaneously...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I recall 30 minute headway being descoped to Aurora, but this seems in line with what they were already planning? I'm not sure what they mean by "full two-way all-day service" that was better than 30 min headways. Did MX used to promise 15 min. to Aurora? Incredibly disappointing at the delays...

I'm not aware of the operational/signal situation but infra wise the tie-ins aren't there to actually do it anyway. North of King, a train on the rail to Milton will be going to Milton, there is no rail switch to exit the Milton rail and enter the Gerogetown tracks.

perhaps even worse, imagine if we named a station all the way in the south of scarborough, nowhere near scarborough centre, "scarborough"

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Yes, but there is heavy push from the City to integrate it with one fare with fare restructuring. Last I checked they were pushing it over SCOW station As UPX becomes an actual city-wide link and not just a shuttle to the airport, I think One Fare integration will be inevitable. Certainly...

Have you considered a Midtown-Lakeshore alignment, or do you consider that a separate line / unfeasible? (Depicted here in Purple)

Am I missing something? I thought Bridge was serving an interchange with RH, GO buses, and the centre of the Viva network... That feels pretty important to me, even if it's currently in an unfortunate location in a sea of parking lots. I'm more confused with the relatively very close High Tech.

You're right. I made that statement a bit too in the heat of the moment. I went thru the timetables and wrote down a theoretical one, it just doesn't work out with the current single-track between Unionville to Mt. Joy, and a long layover at Old Elm would be impractical. The best I could get on...

What is so extra-fascinating to me is that the catenary system installed on 5 and 6 are objectively more complex and built to be more resilient/support higher speeds than the simple catenary for the streetcar system, and yet it feels like it's having more problems than the streetcar catenary.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

"The TTC" cannot take out private bank loans, because the TTC is not a separate entity, but an arm of the City. The City would be taking out loans, which is strictly regulated by Ontario law. As far as I'm aware they are allowed to loan for capital projects, but I am not aware whether or not...

How in the world did an overhead issue cut off service from Avenue to Don Valley? Trains should be turning back at Laird, unless theres an issue between Laird and Avenue, which uses metal contact rather than wire... Either way, Not Good to have such a major shut down at rush hour! (5PM)...

I don't see why MX doesn't then do short-turns to Kennedy (Trains run from Unionville -> Kennedy and back.) I reckon a lot of people would be happy and understanding of partial service that would just get them onto the subway. The insistence that every train must go to Union is rather confusing...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's been discussed here before, but if I recall, Sunnybrook was initially cut out and intended to be tunnelled, locals fought for the stop, it wasnt feasible to build an underground station so they built it above ground, and to build it on the south side would have required a new EA so they...

glass half full: this will cause pressure at city hall/qp to build a relief-relief line! More subways!

So, a question because I'm not aware if it has been answered. Obviously higher rush-hour frequencies and 3 car trains can't come tomorrow because there is no extra rolling stock. Ignoring that, what is the current minimum headway allowable on 5? If it's different/limited by the surface section...
