Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Doing this after bike to work day is malicious and deliberate. Drunken Devin is a month late on the regional rail plan, but this is what they focus on. Straight out of the Doug Ford playbook too, mentioning how he's never seen a cyclist on 7 street- maybe it's because he hasn't set foot on the...

    Calgary Restaurant Thread

Definitely ordering the tartare next time. It's usually my go-to at these types of restaurants but we had to give the mussels a try first

    Calgary Restaurant Thread

Got into Penny Crown on 34 Ave for dinner on Saturday. Very impressed at what they could accomplish in such a small space. The vibes were absolutely phenomenal, even though the low ceilings made it loud and a bit stuffy (though I guess that fits the whole New York pub motif they're going for)...

Could not cycle into work today, so I took the bus- which allowed me to snap a pic of this one this morning. Looks like the 5th floor is almost done.

I don’t have a subscription to read the article, but seeing Keystone XL being brought up yet again is giving “Here’s how Bernie can still win” vibes

I think this is a great next step for the area. While 14th street has always felt like a bit of an eyesore/car sewer, I think this could add an anchor point to make the area more inviting. And the additional connection between the SAIT/AUArts LRT station and the bottom of the hill is a big...

CRUs seem to be filling out. Iyycburg (burger place) looks almost ready; Om Organics (organic skincare shop from Invermere), and one8T wellness are open now. Still no indication of who might be leasing out the big corner unit. Marda Loop is about to be stacked with burger places. Boogies, A&W...

Went to the Global Pet Foods in Marda Loop last night and couldn’t help but peek in through the windows at the prospective sales centre, and I spotted this model of the proposed development. Just a sneak peek for everyone 😁

    Infill Development Discussion

The cynical side of me thinks that the councillors may be carrying out the perceived will of their NIMBY constituents. To the NIMBYs, being against blanket rezoning means being against higher density redevelopment, regardless of LAP or other process. Defeating blanket rezoning => no more dense...

    Infill Development Discussion

Most Calgarians don’t have the knowledge base or care to understand what these decisions mean. They read scare pieces about midblock 16-plexes, and attribute their rising property tax and commute times to blanket rezoning. All the chuds in neighbourhoods like evergreen (which won’t be affected...
