That is true! Just...don't look up and it'll be fine. ;)

Had several Mellowd chocolates from the downtown farmers' market a few times and they are seriously ADDICTIVE. Not cheap but so so worth the price, which isn't always the case.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Edmonton

I remember people who used it because it reduced their commute by roughly 5 minutes actually said they didn't see why those who lived along the road should have a say. Because their 5 minute commute savings trumped the traffic, noise, safety issues of residents. Boggled my mind then, continues...

"ex-patriots"??? Seriously? Surely they mean expatriates! And here I thought spellcheck was readily available...even for the news media. (Yeah, I know, I know, not on topic and irrelevant but still!)

My thought was oilfield worker housing or long term care facility.

I'm no architect but it seems to me that it wouldn't take much to make this so much better! Brick or dark colours up above, bigger windows whose shape mirrors the shape of the original building, and boom! done!

Didn't know this was happening in Vancouver, but it's been a while since I've visited.

    Municipal Politics

Ours went down about $10/month, but that's condos for ya. My parents' went up astronomically, but they bought a house with a garage-mahal for reasons that continue to escape me.

You only have to be familiar with reading and following traffic signs and using your eyeballs. This whole "I'm not from around these here parts" is a stupid excuse. A driver struck my dad while he was biking across a three-phase street a couple months ago (luckily he's fine) and his excuse was...

    High Level Bridge

Once again, watching the Giro, seeing the sheer number of historical buildings, plazas, and bridges not just retained but maintained and celebrated, makes me thankful we have no Roman ruins in our city. They'd be an Impark lot by now and we'd be patting ourselves on the back for making a sound...

They did an outstanding job. Quickly, neatly, respectfully - as soon as they cleaned the sidewalk, the moved their fencing to allow active users to access it. It was a very professional operation.

I doubt they'd block off the whole street for an overdose. Not these days. A couple police officers were walking up and down the blocked off area clearly looking for something. Not a clue what. And my point wasn't to sensationalize but to let people know to take another route.

If your morning commute takes you up 103 Street between Bellamy Rd and 100 Ave, take an alternate route. A couple blocks are barricaded and there is some police presence. Less of an ongoing incident than an investigation of last night's incident, as far as I can tell.

    Downtown

It's been packed there regardless of time or day. I was impressed!
